Zone 6. Inappropriate DHEA-S values
This pattern indicates normal levels of cortisol but abnormally high levels of DHEA. It is caused by some type of exogenous intake of DHEA or other hormone. It may be induced in healthy patients when taking adaptogens as a means to compensate for stressing. In these cases, however, the DHEA is usually only in the high normal range or slightly above the normal range.
